Thank you for your interest in my work. I wanted to give you a tiny glimpse behind the scenes of my sculpting process.

Each sculpt starts as a simple ball of clay, slowly features are added then refined.

This is one of the sets I'm working on now. I will add photos as the piece progresses. Please keep checking back.

A strong wire armature is then made using the head as a guide for size and proportions. This insures strength & durability. Now I can choose my pose. I bake clay onto my armature....sort of like a skeleton. I can now work on my piece and not worry about the clay moving around.

I have been using this technique for years. It makes sculpting much easier.

Once I have the body sculpted & attach the head, I bake according to the instructions for the type of clay I'm using. If the clay is not baked at the exact temperature & time stated by the manufacturer the doll will not cured properly, it will slowly break down over time.

My favorite clay to use is Prosculpt. This clay needs to be baked at 275 degrees for 12-15 min per 1/4" of clay.

Larger dolls are usually baked for aprox. an hour. I use a digital timer to insure that the oven remains at the correct temperature throughout the baking process. The oven I use is a free standing Convection oven (electric)

After the piece is fullly sculpted & cured the really fun part starts! Painting wigging/furring and decorating.I use the finest quality artist oils to paint features and blush the body. I use different types of hair for wigging/fur.

If you are looking for instructions on making your own glass like eyes or wings like this, please visit my Ebay store. You will find my wing making book.

I also have a 110 page CD book, how to sculpt your own baby.

I also offer digital downloads of the wing and eye books. Please email if you are interested.
